The purpose of USA President Obama’s event in Soweto (UJ campus)

Date: Jun 26, 2013 | News

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) has noted that some media reports reflect incorrect information regarding USA President Barack Obama’s Pan-African Town Hall event for youth engagement on UJ’s Soweto Campus this Saturday, 29 June 2013.

The engagement with youth leaders from South Africa and the African continent is the sole purpose of USA President Obama’s event.
The event is organised by the US Embassy.
The conferral of an honorary degree on USA President Obama will not take place during Saturday’s event and is not on the programme.
