The mathematics department at UJ becomes a part of the SA-UK University Staff Doctoral Programme

In 2020, UJ’s Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics became a part of the South Africa/ United Kingdom (SA-UK) University Staff Doctoral Programme (USDP) Phase 2. Championed by the British Council and the Department of Higher Education, the SA-UK USDP Phase 2 programme is a collaboration grant.

The programme is designed to enhance the capacity of permanent academics in South Africa through doctoral studies in the following fields: local development; entrepreneurship, sustainable development goals 1, 2 and 4, education and fourth industrial revolution technologies that will support municipalities in local development to improve the quality of lives of communities. UJ will be the lead university and will provide the Project Manager/Project Coordinator, PhD Development Manager, and an Administrator.
