Prof Morgan Dundu – New Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment Vice Dean Teaching and Learning at UJ

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is pleased to announce the appointment of Prof Morgan Dundu as the new Vice Dean Teaching and Learning at the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment at the University of Johannesburg, with effect from 1 May 2015.
The appointment is for three years. Prof Dundu will also serve as member to the UJ Senate Teaching and Learning Committee (STLC).
Prof Dundu has served as the Head of School of Civil Engineering and the Built Environment at the University of Johannesburg since 2010.
He holds a BSc (Eng) degree from the University of Zimbabwe, an MSc and a PhD degree in Structural Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand.
Prof Dundu is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), editorial board member of the Journal of Steel Construction – Design and Research, European Convention of Constructional Steelwork (ECCS), member of the International Association of Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE), member of the Concrete Society of Southern Africa (CSSA) and member of the Standards Association of South Africa (SASA).
Prof Dundu established 4 research groups in the School of Civil Engineering and the Built Environment and led the Structural Engineering Research Group from 2010 to 2015. The main focus of his research is in the Structural Stability of Cold-Formed Steel Structures, Composite Construction, as well as the Safety and Reliability of Steel Structures.
He has published a large number of research articles in top international journals. In 2014, his article “Effect of flattening circular hollow sections in truss and dome structures” was published in the highly-regarded Elsevier journal Thin-Walled Structures.
Prof Dundu has taught Structural Engineering, Civil Project Investigation, Civil Design and Structural Dynamics during his career as a lecturer.
