ISC Global ranks UJ food catering units among the best in SA

Food catering units at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) have been given a nod on food safety by the International Standards Certifications (Global) FZ LLC (ISC), making UJ the first higher education institution to achieve such a certification in South Africa. ISC Global awarded the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) Food Safety Management system certification to the University’s food catering units – Madibeng Kitchen, Johannesburg Institute of Advanced Study (JIAS), Design Café and the School of Tourism and Hospitality (STH) Main Kitchen.

“Since 2011, UJ embarked on a food safety drive in all the food courts and catering units at its four campuses, auditing all food providers quarterly. Our compliance with the food safety standards matches the international food safety benchmark,” says Ms Elana Venter, Manager: Occupational Health Practice.

The International Standards Certifications Global FZ LLC is a full-service international certification and training body. It is recognised by Joint Accreditation System – Australia New Zealand (JAS-ANZ) as an accredited body and by Exemplar Global as an accredited training organisation.
