The Sustainable Energy Africa, the South African Local Government Association and the South African Cities Network is hosting the Urban Energy Network Meeting set to take place from 2nd June 2022 – 3rd June 2022, at the Botanical Gardens in Pretoria.

The Urban Energy Network Meeting aims to explore the powers and functions (as per the constitution and other applicable legislature) municipalities have to achieve a low carbon grid and how municipalities can communicate to residents the importance of the grid.

 

Day 1: Theme – Renewable energy implementation for local government:

Unpacking RE commitments, pathways, regulatory frameworks, and implementation mechanisms at local level.

Day 2: Theme – Effective and impactful energy communication for customers: 

Input on developing an Electricity Communication Plan and launch a “Grid for all” communications kit.

 

The meeting will emphasise peer-to-peer learning with inputs from leading municipalities.
