Introducing two new Post-Doctoral Research Fellows at the STH: Dr Bianca van der Westhuizen and Dr Alex Kamgain.

They are under the supervision of Dr Hema Kesa as the STH grow a research footprint in the niche area of nutrition through the Food Evolution Research Laboratory (FERL).

Dr Bianca van der Westhuizen holds a PhD in Nutrition and her research area includes prevention of non-communicable diseases with a specific focus on combatting obesity. She is also passionate about bridging the gap between policy makers and science and always strive to ensure that her research is useful. She is a huge dog lover and a proud owner of three Bassets. She also enjoys cycling.

Dr Alex Dimitri Tchuenchieu Kamgain holds a PhD degree in Biochemistry specialty Microbiology. He has a great interest in Food & Nutrition Research (Food Biochemistry, Food Microbiology and Food Safety). He is a full-time researcher at the Centre for Food and Nutrition Research of the Institute of Medical Research and Medicinal Plant Studies of Cameroon since 2017. He intends to be an EFFICIENT Research Leader who wishes to bring laboratory results back to communities in order to have a positive impact on their lives. He enjoys playing and watching Football and loves discovering new places.
