Industrial design student Ivan Brown’s Beegin beehive featured in Farmers Weekly

Date: Oct 19, 2017 | Students Achievements

MTech Industrial Design Student, Ivan Brown, who completed his Master’s project for his Beegin beehive cum laude, has been featured in a wonderful article exploring the project in Farmers Weekly, one of the most widely read agricultural publications in Africa. It is also published electronically here: https://www.africanfarming.com/concrete-beehives-mallholder/. The article clearly begins with the fact he studied his Master’s degree in Industrial Design at UJ. Since the publication of this article, Ivan has had numerous requests to purchase the hives from across Africa, and in this regard we have registered two aesthetic and two functional design registrations through the UJ Technology Transfer Office, which
will be supporting Ivan as he takes the hives into commercialisation during this year.
