High level Gambian delegation visits UJ

​The Division of Internationalisation at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) hosted a delegation from Gambia’s Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, and the University of Gambia (UTG) on Wednesday 1 April 2015.

 

The purpose of the visit was to discuss the possibilities of collaboration and capacity-building between UJ, UTG and the Gambian government.
The Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology – Dr Aboubacar Abdullah Senghore – came with the Vice-Chancellor of UTG, Professor Muhammadou MO Kah. The Gambian delegation included; His Excellency, Mr Seedy Lette, Ambassador of The Gambia to South Africa; Director of Research at the Ministry of Higher, Education, Research, Science and Technology – Ms Jainaba Jagne; Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology – Mr Madi O Jatta; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology – Dr Cherno Omar Barry.

 

The delegation was met by; the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Johannesburg (UJ) Prof Angina Parekh; Executive Dean: Health Sciences Prof Andre Swart; Acting Executive Dean: Humanities Prof Lionel Posthumus; Vice Dean: Management Prof Jane Spowart; Vice Dean : Law Prof Letlhokwa George Mpedi; Head of Department: Architecture, Dr Finzi Saidi; Head of Department: Childhood Education Prof Nadine Petersen; Head of School: Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Prof Andre Nel; Vice Dean of Teaching and Learning in the Faculty of Science; Vice Dean of Research and Postgraduate Studies in the Faculty of Science Prof Andre Strydom; Investment Management Lecturer and Programme Manager for Extra-Curricular Programme​s in the Department of Finance and Investment Management Ms Corlise Le Roux; and Prof Coenraad Labuschagne from the Department of Finance and Investment Management; Director : Study Abroad, Division For Internationalisation Mr Lebethe Malefo.
