Educational Psychology Teachers training workshop 2016

In partnership with the Deputy Chief Education specialists of the Mpumalanga Department of Education (MDoE) and the University of Johannesburg (UJ), 60 (sixty) district officials servicing primary schools in the Mpumalanga province were trained in the implementation of inclusive and remedial educational practices in an approved Short Learning Programme (SLP). The training workshop took place at Ndalo hotel and conference centre in Badplaas from the 20th to the 24th of June 2016, from 8:00 – 16:00 each day.

The training workshop focussed on the following:

  • Adaptations and modifications of the learning environment in responding to diversity.
  • Differentiating the curriculum, content and pedagogy in response to diversity.
  • Principles underpinning scholastic assessment and learning support practices within inclusive classrooms
  • Learning support strategies for language, reading, spelling, writing and maths difficulties
  • Practical skills in the design and implementation of learning support plans for learners’ with barriers
  • Reporting ethically and professionally on individual learning support plans and working collaboratively in school-based support teams.
  • Participants received a learning guide focusing on Learning Support strategies covering the programme content.
