Deputy Minister visits UJ during registration week

​​​​The Honourable Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Mr Mduduzi Manana visited the University of Johannesburg (UJ) on Monday, 28 January, as thousands of first-year students registered for the academic year.​

This visit follows UJ’s very successful “Apply on time” and “No walk-ins” campaigns. The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) launched a national “Apply on time” campaign in 2012 to urge learners to familiarise themselves with application processes and requirements at the various institutions.

UJ’s campaigns and the mobi site enquiry system were developed to mitigate late applications and enquiries. The system received a “thumbs up” from the Deputy Minister.

Meanwhile, it’s been all systems go for registration in Mpumalanga at the Siyabuswa Campus, where the first intake of 100 students for the 4-year UJ Education Foundation Programme will be offered this year.

This is a huge milestone for UJ in answering the DHET’s call to have more teacher training institutions in the country which will provide quality and well-trained educators in South Africa’s learning institutions.
