Wiki Science International Scientific Photo Competition

A new international scientific photo competition will take place during December 2017, with the support of Wikimedia volunteers around the world. It will be one of the biggest scientific photo challenges ever organized.

Some countries have also specific national juries.

Here is also a list with more detailed descriptions of the national competitions.

So far almost 5000 photos have been uploaded mostly in Europe and the Americas. Besides Ghana, almost all African countries will be evaluated by the second-level international jury. The main selection procedure will be carried out by Mascha Stroobant (South African biologist working in Italy) and Caesar Bita (marine archaeologist and Director of the National Museum of Malindi - Kenya). For a better evaluation of Arab speaking countries, Iraqi neurologist Osama Shukir Muhammed Amin will also be part of the jury. Other French or English or Portuguese speaking jurors will join for certain countries, including chemist Alessandro Marchetti, botanist Maurizio Antonetti and zoologist Piter Kehoma Boll.

We value diversity and we wish to give any fields and any country similar opportunities. We hope you will inform your members, partners or colleagues about this opportunity.
