Chemical Thermodynamics, Phase Equilibria, Separations Technology

Prof Narasigadu holds a C2 NRF Rating and specialised in the field of chemical thermodynamics, phase equilibria, and separations technology. This includes experimental measurements and thermodynamic modeling of vapour-liquid equilibrium (VLE), liquid-liquid equilibrium (LLE), and excess thermodynamic properties for systems of industrial importance. His research focuses on energy efficiency in separations technology through experimental equipment design, methodology, and simulation analysis

Biography

Graduated BSc. Chem. Eng. (UKZN) in 2004 and MSc. Chem. Eng. (UKZN) in 2006. Completed PhD in 2011 from UKZN (South Africa) and Mines ParisTech (France) via a dual institutional agreement. Started as a Leadership & Equity Advancement Program (LEAP) Lecturer in July 2007 at the chemical engineering department of UKZN and became a permanent staff member as a Lecturer in July 2010 at UKZN. Moved to MUT in July 2017 as a Senior Lecturer. Currently an Associate Professor at UJ since October 2019. A member of the Golden Key International Honor Society since 2002 and SAIChE member since 2005. Awarded a NRF Thuthuka research grant from 2012 to 2015 and Sasol Research Award from 2015 to 2017. Holds a C2 NRF rating since January 2021. Specialises in the field of chemical thermodynamics, phase equilibria and separations technology. Prof Narasigadu has many international conference and journal manuscript publications, and currently supervises postgraduates in PhD, Masters and Honours in chemical engineering qualifications.
