About Dr Nomali Z. Ngobese

Qualifications
PhD Bioresources Systems (UKZN)
MSc, BSc Hons and BSc Biological Sciences (UKZN)

Research Focus
Dr Ngobese focuses on the nutritional characterisation of underutilised African plants and on developing postharvest handling procedures to extend the shelf life of popular crops. The work is aimed at alleviating food and nutrition security challenges in Africa. The research involves optimising crop cultivation practices and identifying suitable harvest physiological stages. She collaborates with Food Technologists within the university, researchers from the South African Agricultural Research Council as well as Consumer Scientists from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and the University of Zululand in her work.
