About Dr W Rosenberg
Dr Whitney Rosenberg is a senior lecturer of the Law of Persons and Family at the University of Johannesburg. Whitney obtained her LL.B. degree from the University of Johannesburg the same institution which conferred her with a master’s degree in 2011. In 2020 Whitney was awarded her doctoral degree in private law with a thesis entitled “The Legal Regulation of Infant Abandonment in South Africa” also from the University of Johannesburg. She is co-founder and President of Baby Savers South Africa (BSSA), a non-profit organisation aimed at creating awareness surrounding unsafe infant abandonment in South Africa. Whitney is an admitted attorney of the high court of South Africa having previously worked at Corien Potgieter Attorneys Inc. where she also successfully completed her articles of clerkship. Whitney’s previous places of employment include the Independent Advocates’ Chambers in Cape Town; The University of Johannesburg’s Divorce Law Clinic as well as Bennett and Francis Attorneys in Northcliff. Her passion for teaching is what led her to academia. Whitney’s research interests lie in the sphere of family law, constitutional law, human rights law, as well as contract law.
