About Ms Leoni van der Merwe
Leoni van der Merwe has delivered measurable successes working alongside South Africa’s most decorated professionals, as a legal/ governance professional and company secretary. She holds LLB and LLM (International Economic Law) degrees from the University of Johannesburg and University of South Africa, respectively. She also holds various qualifications in Risk Management (University of Johannesburg), Ethics (University of Oxford), Strategy (University of Cape Town), Postgraduate Research Supervision (University of Johannesburg) and Assessment (University of Johannesburg) – all with distinction. She is currently employed as a lecturer in the Faculty of Law of the University of Johannesburg where she teaches Business Law, Labour Law and Law of Succession to law and non-law students. Leoni plays the role of change agent in numerous capacities in the broader community and her main research focus relates to persons with disabilities and other vulnerable persons in society. She serves as a member of numerous transformation-centric bodies as well as the University of Johannesburg’s Concession Committee and was elected as a University of Johannesburg Social Media Ambassador. Leoni has a keen interest in researching and applying innovative teaching methods to her interactions with students. Qualifications: LLB (UJ); LLM (UNISA)
