About Mr Amukelani Muthambi

Amukelani Muthambi is a lecturer in the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Regent Business School. Amukelani also holds a Master of Consumer Science (with distinction) from the University of Pretoria. He currently lectures undergraduate and postgraduate modules in the Department of Fashion Design; he also serves a supervisor of honours and masters students. His current research focuses on the marketing of fashion products.

Amukelani’s research outputs include:

Co-authored an article with Helena M. de Klerk and Anne Mastamet-Mason titled ‘Sizing for ethnicity in multi-cultural societies: Validation of the size specifications for young South African women’ which was published in the Journal of Family Ecology and Consumer Sciences in 2016.

Co-authored an article with Helena M. de Klerk and Anne Mastamet-Mason titled ‘Sizing for ethnicity in multi-cultural societies: Development of size specifications for young South African women’ which was published in the Journal of Family Ecology and Consumer Sciences in 2015.

Co-authored a paper with Bukisile P. Makhanya, Helena M. de Klerk, Anne Mastamet-Mason and Karien Adamski titled ‘Use of 3D scanning technologies to extract body measurements for customised size charts for predominant African and Caucasian body shapes in South Africa’ which was presented in 2015 at the 6thInternational Conference and Exhibition on 3D Body Scanning Technologies held in Lugano, Switzerland.

Co-authored a paper with Helena M. de Klerk and Anne Mastamet-Mason titled ‘Proposed sizing for young South African women of African descent with triangular shaped bodies’ which was presented in 2013 at the11thInternational SAAFECS Conference held in Pretoria, South Africa.

Co-authored a paper with Bertha M. Jacobs, Elena Karpova, and Arnold Andrew titled ‘Click-Link-In Sync: Communication Patterns of Multinational Virtual Learning Teams’ which was presented in 2010 at the 67thInternational Textile and Apparel Association Annual Meeting held in Montreal, Canada.
