Teaching and Research Interests
Dr Bridget Grogan completed her PhD in English literature in 2011 at Rhodes University. In 2012 she joined the University of Johannesburg as a post-doctoral research fellow and was appointed as a lecturer in the department in 2013. Her predominant research focus is on representations and metaphors of embodiment in colonial and postcolonial fiction. Further areas of research include theories of affect and the expression and transmission of emotion in literature, psychoanalysis, colonial settler writing, modernism, and contemporary world literature. She has published articles in local and international journals on Australian and South African fiction.
