Doctor of Technology (DTech) in Food Technology – phased out to be replaced with Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Food Technology
A Masters degree in Food Technology or an equivalent qualification at an equivalent standard as determined by a Status Committee and approved by the Faculty Board. International students are expected to obtain a SAQA Evaluation Certificate (NQF Level 9) before applying for admission. All students must contact Academic Staff Members in the Department for supervision latest by August of the year before commencing application for Admission.
Selection is based on approval by the Departmental/Faculty's Research Committee.
Curriculum and conferment of degree
A 100% research-based dissertation program. Students can be completed in a minimum of 2 years (4 semesters) and maximum of 4 years (4 semesters). The DTech/PhD: Food Technology degree is conferred on students who have successfully submitted a research-based dissertation and 1 published/accepted peer reviewed article.
