Prof Nortje Meyer, a former Head of the Department (2008-210) is a New Testament scholar who received her scholarly training at the former RAU. She obtained her doctoral degree with a thesis titled “John the Baptist in the Gospel of John”. Lately her research field of specialisation is New Testament Gender and Gender Criticism. Her research interest also includes other New Testament fields, namely, the Synoptic Gospels, particularly the Gospel of Matthew. She also deals with the Letter of the Ephesians, the Letter of Jude, and Johannine Literature with a focus on the Gospel of John. She has published several accredited articles and chapters in books. She has also supervised post-graduates and teaches Religion to undergraduate students. She likes to spend time in nature and enjoys good cuisine.
