​ Presentations


Guidelines:

Oral:

  • Oral presentations are allocated 10 min for presentation time and 2 min for discussion.
  • A number of oral presentation sessions will take place during the programme.  You will be notified in due course regarding the specific time allocated for your presentation.
  • Should you for any reason no longer be able to participate we ask you to please notify the conference organisers on ASSA2018@uj.ac.za immediately so that the programme can be adjusted accordingly.
  • Further guidelines and logistical arrangements regarding the oral presentations will be sent upon confirmation of abstract acceptance.

Poster:

  • Poster presentations are allocated 5 min for presentation time and 2 min for discussion.
  • A number of poster presentation sessions will take place during the programme.  .  You will be notified in due course regarding the specific time allocated for your presentation.
  • Should you for any reason no longer be able to participate we ask you to please notify the conference organisers on ASSA2018@uj.ac.za immediately so that the programme can be adjusted accordingly.
  • Further guidelines and logistical arrangements regarding the poster presentations will be sent upon confirmation of abstract acceptance.


Awards

The following awards are available at this conference:

Antonette Kotze Award

  • Oral presentation
  • The presentation is the person's FIRST presentation at ANY conference.
  • No age limit

Best Young Presenter Award

  • Oral presentation
  • The presenter is 35 years or younger.
  • The presenter has not won the same award in the preceding conference (unless there are no other qualifying presentations).

Hanno Boon Award

  • Oral presentation
  • The presentation must be on some aspect of medical education (research or descriptive of current practice)
  • No age limit
  • The presenter has not won the same award in the preceding conference (unless there are no other qualifying presentations).

S.V. Naidoo Award

  • Poster presentation
  • No age limit
  • The presenter has not won the same award in the preceding conference (unless there are no other qualifying presentations).

Willie Vorster Award

  • Poster presentation
  • First time presenter at any conference
  • Presenter needs to be first author (PI).

ASSA Technical Award

  • Any presentation
  • The presenter must be employed in a technical post
  • The presentation must be on a technical aspect relating to anatomy
  • No age limit
  • The presenter has not won the same award in the preceding conference (unless there are no other qualifying presentations).


General rules regarding all ASSA awards

  • No single person will be considered for more than one award at any particular conference.
  • If the presenter fits into more than one category (for example under 35 AND 1st time presenter) then the presenter must choose for which award they wish to be evaluated.
  • If no qualifying presentations are given in a particular category then the award will not be made.

Accepted abstracts

Accepted and final abstracts will be made available electronically at the conference.
