The Centre of Applied Research and Innovation in the Built Environment

The Centre of Applied Research and Innovation in the Built Environment (CARINBE) is set up within the School of Civil Engineering and Built Environment (SCEBE), under the governance rules and structures of the University of Johannesburg (UJ). The custodian of the Centre is the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment (FEBE). The Centre is situated on the Doornfontein Campus within the Department of Construction Management and Quantity Surveying. The CARINBE'S strategic intent is to become an internationally recognized think-tank, established to provide credible information to the built environment industry which is supported by robust scientific research.

Health And Safety In The Construction Industry - Short Learning Programme

The rationale for offering this short learning programme:

Given the persistent problem of health and safety in the construction industry, the construction regulations have placed equal responsibility for health and safety on all the professionals responsible for the delivery of infrastructure. It is therefore imperative that all built environment professionals should acquire an in-depth knowledge in construction health and safety.

The SLP will appeal to students studying toward building/construction related qualifications, H&S Managers, officers, executives, employees in the built environment, professionals; i.e.: project Managers, Constructions Managers, Architects, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors in both private and public sectors.

 

THE QUALIFYING STUDENT WILL ACQUIRE KNOWLEDGE ON:

  • The importance of H&S at organizational and project level
  • Being able to apply basic H&S principles on a construction
  • H&S administration and Management
  • H&S costing & reporting and
  • The knowledge gained on the effective application of H&S regulations and by-laws in the workplace.


PROGRAMME DETAILS

  • Duration: Five consecutive Saturdays
  • Date: 3 October - 31 October 2020 (Saturdays only)
  • Time: 08:00 – 16:00 SAST
  • Venue: Online learning programme. SLP link will be sent upon registration 
  • Fee: R 16 780.00 per Student
