Division for Institutional Planning, Evaluation and Monitoring

The primary functions of the Division for Institutional Planning, Evaluation and Monitoring are to provide the data, research and support for the strategic and institutional planning processes of the University, and the guidance and support needed for academic planning. Headed by a Senior Director, it consists of three units: the unit for academic planning, the unit for data governance and management, and the unit for institutional research and planning.

In the area of academic planning, key ongoing concerns are the maintenance of an academic profile in terms of student enrolment and programme offerings that are appropriate to the nature of the University, its mission, its strategic goals, and its long-term sustainability. Work in the Division is strongly focussed on data generation, monitoring and analysis, and the provision of a wide variety of reports and submissions for different stakeholders. Student surveys conducted by DIPEM research a wide variety of aspects of student life and learning (including in the classroom) that together make up the total student experience. Disaggregation of responses by faculty allows faculties to act on issues particular to their environment.
