2017 Diversity Week in Pictures and Videos
From Soweto to Doornfontein, across Auckland Park Kingsway and the Bunting Road campuses, the University of Johannesburg (UJ) annually celebrates the diversity of its staff and student population in many ways. This year, the Transformation Unit introduced the ‘symbolic’ LGBTIQ+ queer weddings that highlighted diversity and inclusion in the University’s populace. The Doornfontein Campus started off this year’s Diversity Week (16 to 20 October) with an LGBTIQ+ wedding at the Student Centre – turning out to be an interesting occasion for viewers.
Diversity Week celebrations carried on at the Bunting Road and Soweto campuses on Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th October, with the Kingsway Campus wrapping up festivities with the celebration of the Festival of Lights in support of colleagues and students celebrating Diwali. As usual, the Kingsway Campus was again buzzing with dance performances by international UJ students, food tastings and traditional wear.
