Mrs Nicola Wakelin-Theron is a senior lecturer in the Tourism Department at the School of Tourism and Hospitality (STH) of the University of Johannesburg's College of Business and Economics. She currently holds an MSc Degree from the University of Buckingham Chiltern University College, a tertiary diploma from University of Pretoria and various industry related qualifications.  Nicola is currently lecturing Tourism Development, Tourism Planning and Tourism Management Practices for the 2nd and 3rd year tourism students. Additional to lecturing is she also a Supervisor for Masters, Honours and BTech students in Tourism and Hospitality research projects. She further manages the Continues Industry Education short learning programmes for the school. Nicola is also in the final stages of completing her PhD in Employability of Tourism Graduates. She has further published various papers on this topic and has a keen interest in tourism employment, youth employment, knowledge and skills development, graduate employability as well as practical exposure in the workplace. She has close working relationships with major stakeholders in the industry such as ACSA, Airlink, COMAIR, Thebe Reed and Wilderness Safari's.
