Dr Mispa Roux is a senior lecturer within the Department of Public Law, she is also Head of the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Unit and Deputy Director of the South African Institute for Advanced Constitutional, Public, Human Rights and International Law (SAIFAC), a centre of the University of Johannesburg. Mispa obtained the LLB (2006) and LLM (2007) degrees from the University of Johannesburg. In 2012 she obtained her LLD in International Law at UJ, entitled "A Comparative Analysis of the Causes for Breaching the Erga Omnes Obligation to Prevent and Prosecute Gross Human Rights Violations", under the supervision of Professor Hennie Strydom. She is currently a senior lecturer in the Department of Public Law at the Law Faculty of UJ. Dr Roux teaches Public International Law and Human Rights to undergraduate students, and International Criminal/Humanitarian Law to LLM students. Mispa is Head of the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Unit at the South African Institute for Advanced Constitutional, Public, Human Rights and International Law (SAIFAC), a centre of the University of Johannesburg. She is also SAIFAC's Deputy Director. She is an editor at the Constitutional Court Review (CCR), a law journal that devotes its attention to the work of the South African Constitutional Court. Dr Roux's research focuses mainly on international criminal law, international human rights law, sexual and gender-based violence, and South Africa's obligations in terms of these focus areas. She has published in peer-reviewed accredited journals and presented academic papers at a number of international conferences.
