Corné Meintjes has worked in higher education for the past eighteen (18) years. She is a specialist in the areas of strategic communication and stakeholder. She holds a DCom from the University of Pretoria highlighting the importance of stakeholder relationship management and corporate governance enabling organisations to be good corporate citizens. Corné has lectured to all levels of students including industry at six different institutions. She uses multiple tools to facilitate student development and learning and empowering students through a combination of approaches such as Blackboard/Moodle, in-class activities, role play, presentations, industry engagement and case studies. She consistently achieves high lecturer evaluations across institutions and qualifications.  Corné has fulfilled several leadership roles throughout her career both in academic administration, teaching and research.

Industry engagement:

Corné engages with industry as she has served on several committees through The Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA) and Services SETA and is regularly invited to sit on the judging panels of the IABC Quill Awards, PRISA PRISM Awards as well as the MPASA PICA Awards.

 

Projects completed:

  1. Research project studying co-creation of the SA brand during the 2010 Soccer World Cup
  2. Collaborative research project involving qualitative and quantitative data with City University of New York, University of Johannesburg and Monash SA studying the practices and trends of Corporate Communication in South Africa. This research was presented internationally
  3. Collaborative research project between Monash SA and University of Johannesburg studying the web marketing of luxury lodges in South Africa using qualitative and quantitative data analysis
  4. Research project, mainly qualitative studying professionalization of Corporate Communication in South Africa Collaborative research project between the University of Johannesburg and the University of Pretoria studying the worldviews of Public Relations Practitioners in South Africa
  5. Research project, mainly qualitative focusing on the learner opinions of experiential learning for professional development in Corporate Communication in South Africa

 

Current projects:

Corné is currently working on redefining stakeholder communication in the context of media convergence and the 4th Industrial revolution. Other projects include understanding crisis communication around the ABSA rebrand in 2018 and the uptake of smart appliances in South Africa vs Germany.

Community engagement:

Corné has examined two doctoral thesis and 27 Masters dissertations. She acts as moderator and external examiner for several South Africa universities for all levels of programmes and subjects. She has served on three external programme review panels and acts as reviewer for 12 journals (both local and international)
