​​​The University of Johannesburg’s Advancement team reigned supreme at the 25th MACE (Marketing, Advancement, and Communication in Education) Excellence Award Evening at Sun City on 13 November 2014.​

UJ emerged triumphant in most categories of the MACE Awards, winning an astounding 13 awards in the categories; media and communications, publications, marketing and brand, campaigns, social media and multimedia. The University’s UJ Brand Ambassadors campaign was also awarded the coveted Top Achiever award for receiving the highest overall score amongst the close to 200 entries received this year.

The MACE Excellence Awards recognise excellence among South African Higher Education Institutes and focuses on sound marketing and communication principles, i.e. originality, purpose, intelligent implementation and regular measurable results. The entries are judged by external professionals who excel in their various fields of expertise. Due to the volume of entries and MACE’s commitment to the development of Advancement professionals, this year’s standard set by the adjudicators was exceptionally high.

Says Pooven Naiker, Chair of MACE; “The University of Johannesburg’s phenomenal success is testament to the leadership in UJ’s Advancement Division.” The MACE congress included all 23 universities as well as other institutions of Higher Education in South Africa.

UJ scooped up three Excellence Awards with the UJ Brand Ambassadors campaign, Mini Open Days, and the Arts Centre’s Box Office publication.
