Access to Information
The Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 gives effect to the constitutional right of access to any information held by the State and any information that is held by another person and that is required for the exercise or protection of any rights.
The Act aims to promote transparency, accountability and effective governance of all public and private bodies by including, but not limited to empowering and educating individuals about their rights.
The University's Policy on Access to Information is based on the provisions of Section 32(1)(a) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa (Act No. 108 of 1996) and the resulting Promotion of Access to Information Act (No. 2 of 2000).
