UJ Athletics:

ABSAUJ Athletics Club is based at the UJ Stadium opposite the Westdene Dam. The club has access to four stadia, Johannesburg Stadium, UJ Stadium , Soweto Campus Stadium (All tartan) and Bunting Road grass track. ABSAUJ Athletics Club boasts the only blue track in Africa and has two IAAF Accredited stadia. Practice sessions are arranged by the various coaches at the various venues. ABSAUJ Athletics club is affiliated to Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) and Athletics South Africa (ASA).  

 ABSAUJ Athletics Club also boasts one of the biggest junior clubs.

Team Try-outs:

      - 1st years' athletics championships: 11 February 2012

      - SA Cross Country Trials (Potch): 18 Febraury 2012

      - USSA National Camps: 27-28 April 2012

Fees:

      - R400 per year for non UJ Students

      - R350 per year for UJ Staff/Student and Jnr Club

This fee includes a 2012 licence and access to all UJ athletic facilities.

Scholarship Information:

      - To qualify for a scholarship/bursary an athlete must at least have provincial colours. 

Current club news and achievements:

      - ABSAUJ Athletics boasted 6 athletes that represented South Africa at the World Student Games in Shenzen, China in Aug 2011.

      - The ABSAUJ Athletics Cross Country Ladies A Team won double Gold in the team race and road relay at the 2011 USSA Cross Country   

         Championships held at Potchefstroom.

      - 3 ABSAUJ Athletes represented South Africa at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, that were held in Poland in March 2011.

      - 4 ABSAUJ Athletes represented Team South Africa at the 2011 All Africa Games that were held in Mozambique, where Jaco Engelbrecht won the

        silver medal in the men’s shot put.   Contact details:
