PsyCaD offers various career development services on all four campuses through its Career Services Unit. These services are available to enrolled students as well as to private clients. These services are:
- Career assessments to assist prospective and enrolled students in their study and career decision-making.
- Career counselling that focus on guidance and facilitation in decision-making about study and career choices. This is often used in combination with career assessment.
- Career Education has a practical impact in that it assists students with CV writing, job hunting and on how to prepare for job interviews.
- Comprehensive Career Resource Centres where clients can access a variety of printed and electronic career and company information resources.
- An annual recruitment programme that is well-supported by a variety of top national and international companies.
- Annual Career Fairs where employers come to the campus and students have the opportunity to approach companies for positions.
- The Job Portal offers a range of online recruitment packages to potential employers and recruiters wishing to employ UJ students and graduates. Our Job Portal may be utilised for the recruitment of students and graduates, be it for permanent employment upon graduation, part time and vacation employment, work integrated learning opportunities, internships or bursaries/scholarships.
How can I benefit from career services on offer?
- We offer advisory services to assess client needs, and to refer them appropriately.
- We offer career assessment, consulting and counselling services to assist clients to explore their self and career knowledge. Also, to enable them to make informed career decisions.
- We offer Career Resource Centres with print and web-based resources on all campuses enable clients to access self-help and self-assessment resources, information about career fields, job search strategies and to access job opportunities.
- We offer career education workshops to assist in the acquisition of CV and cover letter writing skills, interviewing skills, job search skills and career management skills.
- The Job Portal offers a range of online recruitment packages to potential employers and recruiters wishing to employ UJ students and graduates. Our Job Portal may be utilised for the recruitment of students and graduates, be it for permanent employment upon graduation, part time and vacation employment, work integrated learning opportunities, internships or bursaries/scholarships.
- Our Recruitment Programme facilitates contact and networking opportunities between prospective employees and graduates.
- We conduct research on career development, of an academic and market related nature, in order to inform our career services activities. This also provides our clients with relevant and recent information on job destination trends, salary and labour market information, and employer’s needs and requirements
PsyCaD Career Services has a dedicated team of specialists dedicated to offering our clients and stakeholders every possible assistance and support. As such every campus provides access to a staffing contingent comprising of Registered Psychologists, Registered Counselors and Psychometrists and professional support staff. A Graduate Recruitment Programme Coordinator coordinates activities across campuses.

The Career Services’ mission is to promote the career development and related life planning skills of its clients. We also aim to facilitate graduate recruitment opportunities and contact with potential employers, in order for our clients to actualise their career development goals.
Career Services strives to engage with it clients and stakeholders, being prospective and enrolled students, alumni and the working population, as well as the employer community and the faculties of the university. We view career development as a life-long activity. We engage with our clients in a comprehensive manner in order to contribute to their career development.
