Golden key partnership with Teboho Trust
Teboho Trust is an organisation which runs a Saturday School Academy for about 200 leaners based in Soweto. The students are orphaned and/or vulnerable and have been selected because they show potential to achieve in their education despite their circumstances. Classes range from grade "R" to matric. The saturday Academy runs from 9h30 to about 13h00 on a weekly basis and the leaners receive extra lessons in English and Maths and then general life skill sessions. In the year 2009, french classes were also offered as well as elective subjects e.g. Life Sciences.
This organisation is now in need of tutors who would be willing to attend at the academy (currently based in Oalando West in Soweto) on a saturday morning to teach English, Maths and an elective subject of their choice. This year the organisation has 30 matric students and is really hoping to achieve excellent results at the end of the year. In 2009, six of its seven matric students passed because of the saturday teachings.
Golden Key International Honours society has considered this project as part of the community development work that the society do, and is asking you as a member to volunteer if willing, as a tutor as often as you may wish to (perhaps once every six weeks or on a monthly basis). If interested please kindly contact the President (Terri Botha) on this number: 072 691 1484
