 Our Values

Leadership

We, students of Broadcast Court, take the initiative in everything that is performed that needs our support and engagement.

Students of Broadcast court have leadership qualities (hidden and exposed) and participation in a relative manner.

Diversity and Unity

Broadcast Court Residence is fortunate to have both males and females from different cultural and religious groups as well as different family backgrounds residing in it.

It is this diversity that makes Broadcast Court Residence what it is, and the people residing in it take place and respect each one of these differences.

Students at the Broadcast Court Residence are united in all forms, be in it the sports grounds, at a social, or at the residence itself; the student come together as one united family.

Pursuit of Excellence

·       We, as Broadcast Court residents, strive for excellence in all that we do. Thus, we have track records dating back from the TWR days to date.

·       We pursue excellence in both sports and academics; and we have students and national level. Moreover, 90% of the students staying at Broadcast Court are doing their third year or in postgraduate level. This therefore shows our drive and passion for success.

Royalty and Prestige

·       We believe that we are the kings and queens of University of Johannesburg in general and the Broadcast Court Residence in particular. Therefore through residing at Broadcast Court we classify ourselves as royalty.

·       We regard ourselves, and so do others, as people of high prestige; people with high standing and honour among others

Broadcast Court Colours and Logo

As House Committee of 2008/09, we thought that Broadcast Court Residence needs a “trademark”, that is colours and a logo that would portray our culture, values and a unique identity. This idea was inspired by other University of Johannesburg residences, those in Auckland Park Kingsway Campus in particular.

Colours

We decided on the colours green and white as they symbolise life and purity respectively. We believe that Broadcast Court is a residence that is full of life; a residence in which there is never a dull moment. Furthermore, we are of the view that green and white are calm, mature colours which thus blend well with a residence in which senior students reside.

Logo

We decided on the gold crown because it symbolises royalty. The crown symbolises the kings and queens of Broadcast Court Residence who take pride in their outspoken excellence. Students of Broadcast Court are also kings and queens of the University of Johannesburg since Broadcast Court is one of the only two senior residences in the University. Thus, Broadcast Court students serve as role models and on inspiration to those students in junior residences so that they can work towards postgraduate level or the completion of their degrees or diplomas for desired lifestyle.

The colour gold blends well with the crown and emphasises royalty which then supports our motto “Before everything Comes us”.

We would wish broadcast court students to take with them happy memories of their residence life that they shared with us.
