University of Johannesburg has twenty-six (26) residences, which takes up the capacity for 6500 annually. The University annual in-take is round about 50 000 students academically.
This left the university to rely on the surrounding communities to accommadate the remaining students who didn't make it into residences. This University could not without proper supervision of guideling documents recommend sudents to reside in surrounding communes or properties without the university acknowledgement. Which indicated that relevent documentation were to be formulated.
