Research capability is measured against the number of DHET accredited research outputs ascribed to an institution and the number of NRF-rated researchers associated with an institution. UJ currently has 90 NRF-rated researchers, and, having set a goal to double its accredited research output by the end of 2015, is on course to reach this target. UJ also holds 2 Research Chairs in the fields of Geometallurgy and Social Change.
