Postdoctoral Research Fellowships are normally awarded to PhD graduates (in most cases within five years of having obtained the PhD) to undertake research at the University of Johannesburg. Postdoctoral Research Fellows are (PRF’s) neither students nor employees. The fellowship is intended to provide a PRF with an opportunity to further develop relevant skills, experience and expertise as a researcher in anticipation of a future career in science and research. Fellowships are awarded initially for one year, and may then be renewed for a further year. Extensions beyond two years may be considered under certain circumstances.
Administration of fellowships and awards made to postdoctoral fellows is administered by the Postgraduate Funding Support (PFS) Section within the Postgraduate Centre.
