The Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Distinguished Research of R500 000 for the “Researcher of the Year” and R250 000 for the “Most Promising Young Researcher” were presented for the third time. Nominations are submitted to the Research Office and the selection is made by a panel chaired by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research, Innovation and Advancement, including external experts. Both nominations for 2009 went to the Faculty of Science.
