Open Days - Friday, 11 and Saturday, 12 May 2012
The University of Johannesburg (UJ) opened its doors to Grade 11 and 12 learners, parents and mature applicants from different provinces during Open Days last week Friday, 11 and Saturday, 12 May 2012.
  • Learners from different schools in South Africa learned about courses on offer at UJ during Open Day.

Department of Radiography Prize-Giving - 19 April 2012
The Department of Radiograhy awarded prizes to its top achieving first, second, third and honours students at a function held on Thursday, 19 April 2012 at the Council Chambers.

University of Johannesburg (UJ) collaboration with the Appalachian State University, USA - 2012
The University of Johannesburg (UJ) has partnered with the Appalachian State University, USA on business related issues. Both the universities' management met on Monday and Tuesday, 12-13 March 2012 in taking their partnership to the next level.

Minister Trevor Manuel addresses small and medium business owners during CSBD's Soweto Conversation Series - 28 March 2012
Minister in the Presidency Trevor Manuel, also Chairperson of the National Planning Commission (NPC), addressed small business owners at UJ's Centre for Small Business Development (CSBD) Soweto Conversation Series on Wednesday, 28 March 2010. Manuel was talking about the future of the National Development Plan (NDP) and the aspirations of the NPC for South Africans.

UJ Staff Day - 16 March 2012
(UJ)'s staff members celebrated the University's annual Staff Day at the AW Muller stadium on the Bunting Road Campus on Friday, 16 March 2012.
  • UJ staff happily followed the line to receive a gift hamper, which included a packed lunch and a comfy winter blanket, as a token of appreciation.
  • Despite pouring rain, UJ employees gathered at the AW Muller stadium for a celebratory staff day.

University of Johannesburg (UJ) collaborates with the University of Malaysia, Perlis (UniMAP)
The University of Malaysia, Perlis (UniMAP) paid the University of Johannesburg (UJ) a visit recently, to collaborate with UJ on Engineering and Business related issues.

Biochemistry and PsyCaD Shavathon 2012
The University of Johannesburg (UJ)’s Department of Biochemistry students raised more than R8 600, 00 in funds, by shaving and spray-painting UJ students’ and staff members’ hair, in support of raising cancer awareness. This was the first cancer awareness campaign undertaken by the department at Kingsway Campus on Friday, 02 March 2012.

2012 Varsity Cup - UJ vs NMMU 20 February 2012
The UJ rugby team played its third match in the 2012 Varsity Cup tournament against NMMU. UJ won the match by 48-18 at the UJ stadium in Westdene on Monday, 20 February 2012.

2012 Varsity Cup - UJ vs UCT 13 February 2012
The 2012 Varsity Cup rugby tournament kicked off on Friday, 27 January 2012 and will run until end of March. UJ lost to TUKS by 8-23 in the first game and won the second and third matches against UCT by 29-15 and NMMU by 48-18, respectively.

Academic Opening and First Year Students' Welcome 2012
In welcoming new students at the 8th Academic Opening of the University of Johannesburg (UJ) on Friday, 10 February 2012, Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Prof Ihron Rensburg, told the first year students to begin a new life journey centred on higher learning and the making, sharing and spreading of knowledge.

Raymond Ackerman Academy Class of 2011 graduates
Raymond Ackerman, founder and patron of the UJ/Raymond Ackerman Academy of Entrepreneurial Development, addressed the group of 61 students and handed out graduation certificates at the UJ’s Soweto Campus on Tuesday, 07 February 2012.

BHP Billiton to fund Small Business Enrichment Programme (SBEP) at CSBD
The Small Business Enrichment Programme (SBEP), offered by UJ's Centre for Small Business Development (CSBD), affords small business owners an opportunity to grow and strengthen their businesses. The cost of the programme is R15 000.00, and BHP Billiton committed to sponsor 90% of this fee. Participants are encouraged to pay the remaining 10%, as a commitment fee to the programme.
