The AIS department consists of four units each with its own Deputy Head of Department (DHoD).
The four units report to the Head of Department (HoD). The units are:

Diploma and BTech
This unit focuses on the content and articulation of the Diploma and BTech qualifications within the department. The Diploma and BTech qualifications are offered on the Bunting Road Campus |

Degree
This unit focuses on the content and articulation of the BCom IT Management and BCom Hons degree qualifications within the department. The BCom and BCom Hons qualifications are offered on the Kingsway Campus. |

Research and Post-graduate Studies Unit
This unit is responsible for all subjects from the current MTech and MCom programmes. |

EUC Unit
The End User Computing unit operates over all four UJ campuses namely: APB, APK, SWC, and DFC. Each campus has a Campus Coordinator and junior lecturing staff reporting to the coordinator. |
