Dr James Furner Faculty of Humanites Department of Politics Post Doctoral Researcher
Biographical
James Furner holds a BA in Social and Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge, and a MA and PhD in Philosophy from the University of Sussex.
His main academic interest lies in social, political and legal theory, especially nineteenth and twentieth century German political thought and twentieth century Anglo-American philosophy of law. He is currently writing a book on Marx’s political philosophy.
He has taught courses at the University of Sussex, U.K. and at the University of Flensburg and University of Heidelberg, Germany. At UJ, he is convenor of the 2011 third-year course ‘Modern Political Thought’.
He is a corresponding editor for the journal Historical Materialism.
