Biokinetics
Biokinetics is currently a postgraduate degree offered at honours level. The entrance requirement is any B-degree (360 credits) with Human Movement Studies/Sciences or the equivalent as one of the majors (180 credits).
Each year we receive approximately 50 to 80 applications form all over the country, but we usually only select 12 learners per year. After completion of their honours year (full-time only), the internship year commences.
Biokinetic interns are required to complete one year of practical work at an accredited biokinetic practice in SA before registering as a biokineticist with the Health Professions Council of SA.
Employment opportunities are numerous, especially in the bigger metropolitans like Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town. Most biokineticists are in private practice and thus require good entrepreneurial skills, the ability to work with people and must be a good networker.
