 Research Output: FADA

In response to the University’s vision of excellence, the Faculty is committed to the implementation of initiatives that will enable research development and the encouragement of creative production as integral aspects of its strategic plan. The FADA Gallery adopted a multidimensional underlying rationale to viewing the gallery not only as a venue for acknowledging and celebrating creative work, but as a pedagogic and research resource.

Research capacity building initiatives included the funding of teaching substitutes; mentoring to assist members staff write articles and papers; a staff research seminar programme; and a series of lectures on research methodology.

The FADA Research Newsletter was refocused in 2008 to include working papers and a greater number of substantive and critical reviews and comments on research endeavours and creative production.

The Creative Teaching and Learning Forum established at the close of 2008 has as one of its goals the development of a scholarship of teaching within the Faculty and the generation of research outputs around the theme of teaching practice in the creative disciplines.

A core group of reputable scholars has affiliated themselves with the VIAD Research Centre as research fellows with the intent to undertake research around the theme of visual identities.
