Through excellent teaching and innovative learning, there is a focus on being an internationally recognised Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department, with the aim to produce graduates who can solve complex engineering problems.
The staff is actively involved in leading-edge research. In the last reporting year, a number of papers, books, chapters, research reports and conference papers were produced.
The Department has fully-equipped, hi-tech laboratories and equipment. It enjoys strong links with industry and professional associations. It hosts a prestigious annual South African Institute of Electrical Engineers event.
Focus areas in the Department include telecommunication, control and instrumentation, electrical energy and information engineering.
Programmes offered by the Department are accredited by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
