Minimum Entrance Requirements
 
These are the MINIMUM entry requirements required for study. Further selection criteria may be applied.

A National Diploma: Building from The University of Johannesburg post 2008 is required for consideration of a BTech degree. In Addition a minimum of 65% for the chosen major is required with a minimum of 60% average for the 3rd year of study. Applicants from other institutions will be required to do a bridging programme as per the departments requirements.

BTECH: CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT

Admission requirements:

A National Diploma: Building, or a National Higher Diploma: Construction Supervision, or an equivalent qualification at an equivalent standard.

Duration of programme:

1 Year- Full time
2 Years-Part time


Brief description of programme

This qualification is intended for persons specialising in the field of construction management. Persons achieving this qualification will be competent to independently perform services relevant to contract planning management and property development.
Exit level outcomes
1. Provide an integrated approach to the planning and management of contracts

2. Act as contracts or sonstruction project manager

3. Allow graduates to register as candiddate Construction and Construction Project managers with the SACPCMP

BTECH: QUANTITY SURVEYING

Admission requirements:

A National Diploma: Building, or a National Higher Diploma: Building Surveying, or an equivalent qualification at an equivalent standard.

Duration of programme:

1 Year- Full time
2 Years-Part time

Brief description of programme 

This qualification is intended for persons specialising in the field of quantity surveying, in the construction and property industries and the Quantity Surveying profession. Persons achieving this qualification will be competent to independently perform services relevant to contract procurement, financial and cost management and property development.

1. Provide financial management skills and create awareness of entrepreneurship.
2. Advise on investment in property.
3. Prepare tender and contract documentation and administer building contracts.
4. Allow Graduates to register as Candidate Quantity Surveyors with the SACQSP
