Civil Engineering Science is one of two programmes at the University of Johannesburg in the Civil Engineering field.
The Department has recently grown to one of the largest in South Africa. It has excellent and dedicated teaching staff, many of whom are actively involved in cutting-edge research.
The research output is significant, with a range of papers, books, chapters, research reports and conference papers produced by academic staff in the last reporting year.
We are home to fully-equipped, hi-tech laboratories and equipment, and have strong links with industry and professional associations.
Key academic focus areas include water, structures, transport, geotechnical engineering, project management, civil engineering materials, urban development and design.
Programmes offered by the Department are accredited by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and are internationally recognised.
