BCom Hons (Accounting)                                                     Full Time

The BCom Honours (Accounting) degree is a postgraduate degree being offered by the Department of Accountancy since 2008. This degree has been developed in response to the need for qualified accountants for commercial organisations, national government departments and internal audit and taxation departments of auditing firms. Places on these programmes are limited.

The student develops intellectual and practical skills in the analysis, interpretation and application of advanced accounting, governance and control and/or taxation principles. This program will prepare students to identify and solve advanced accounting, governance and control and/or taxation principles in practice. Lastly this program will prepare students for further studies in accounting, auditing and taxation as a science.

A potential student must be in possession of a BCom and should have appropriate knowledge of Accounting, Taxation and Auditing (NQF level 7).  The department may require the completion of a bridging course should students not comply with the rules of access regarding the specific subject knowledge in Accounting, Taxation and Auditing. Final admission requirements will from time to time be set by the department
