The Transformation Office is committed to enhance the institutional transformation agenda of the University of Johannesburg. The University, as an academic institution that is committed to the highest standards of scholarship, holds the following common values and accepts responsibility to help create the environment we strive to achieve:
- Academic distinction
- Integrity and respect for diversity and human dignity
- Academic freedom and accountability
- Individuality and collective effort
- Innovation
The Transformation office will promote these values through the following protocols:
- The appreciation for personal integrity and the right of every individual to be treated with dignity and respect
- The search for innovative ways of engaging with opposition embedded in diversity
- Seeking value in those who differ from us instead of criticising and judging
- The freedom of intellectual inquiry in the pursuit of truth
To achieve this, the Transformation Office is creating various opportunities for open dialogue to take place. To encourage participation from the broader community, a UJ Transformation Forum Blog was created. The purpose of this blog is to enhance high level intellectual engagement on transformation issues that will positively contribute to debate.
